Top destination for a short Bike Ride – Morbe Dam, Karjat

It’s these short rides that truly enhance the experience of longer journeys. As a biker, it’s essential to continually focus on several aspects, including mental and physical fitness, as well as the seamless coordination between you and your machine. On this particular day, although the weather wasn’t ideal, the crisp chill in the early morning air invigorated us as we set out for a short ride to Morbe Dam, located just outside of Karjat.

Typically, this ride would take about forty minutes, but we decided to embrace a more leisurely pace, allowing us to soak in the scenery and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow bikers zooming past on their powerful motorcycles. As the sun began to rise, casting golden hues across the horizon, I found myself surprisingly content. It was a departure from my usual instinct to rush and beat my own timing on every trek.

When we finally arrived at Morbe Dam, after an hour of gentle riding, we parked our bikes alongside the calm waters of the river. The lush greenery surrounding the dam provided a breathtaking backdrop, and we took a moment for a routine photo opportunity, capturing the tranquil beauty around us before beginning our return journey.

The ride back was equally enjoyable, with clear roads allowing our bikes to glide effortlessly over the asphalt. After about twenty minutes, we decided to stop at a charming little eatery called “The Plate,” known for its warm atmosphere and delicious breakfast options. We ordered Upma, a South Indian dish, which turned out to be both flavorful and satisfying—just what we needed to refuel for the ride ahead.

Morbe Dam in Karjat is the perfect destination for a short ride, especially when you want to reconnect with your motorcycle without committing to an extensive journey, particularly during the hot summer months from March to early June, when the heat can be intense. That being said, I’m always eager to hop on my bike and set off to Morbe at a moment’s notice.
