The sight of the vast blue expanse at Pirwadi Beach reminded me of my Poem – Oceanic which features in my first poetry book – Culturekurry. I’m sharing with you a few opening lines from the same Poem.
Do not try to hold me for I’m scattered
Yet connected to you on the deep
Dive me for the treasured pearl
Or simply drift on uncharted waters
There is light in the abyss and a glow in the
ripples…
Staying in Navi Mumbai gives me the advantage of accessing the coastal route as well as the Western Ghats in much less time, plus the early morning ride start by 6 AM is a bonus. Being a Diwali weekend, the roads were void of the usual heavy vehicle deployment towards JNPT, and hence, riding towards Pirwadi Beach made sense, especially because we planned to be back by 9 AM. It takes about thirty minutes to reach Pirwadi Beach from our routine start point at NMMC Headquarters on Plam Beach Road. We parked ourselves at the ONGC Helipad spot which is ubiquitous amongst the biker brotherhood. The road gives one a feel of driving along the coastal route from Konkan to Goa. One can easily spend a close to an hour here hanging around appreciating the view or stroll on the rocky beachfront. Try to reach her by seven am and go not later than 8 am since heat and humidity sets-in fast. After spending half an hour on the helipad, we headed towards Uran Naka for a delish breakfast at – Varhadi Misal and tried the many variations of Misal and also Keema Pao. Seafood lovers can buy fresh catch-of-the-sea from the fish market situated opposite. Many of my Seafood Recipes are cooked on Fish procured from this very market. So this weekend, head out to Pirwadi Beach for a short ride or a spin and yes, don’t forget to gorge on toothsome snacks at Uran Naka. Happy riding.
