Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 green chilli,
slit 1 tomato, finely chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder
1 tsp salt
1tsp coriander powder
3/4 cup moong dal
1/4 garam masala
Pinch of asafoetida
1tbsp lemon juice
5 cup water
Few curry leaves
Coriander leaves – for garnish
Procedure
1) In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil and saute 1/2 onion finely chopped and ginger garlic paste and 1 green chilli.
2) Additionally saute 1 tomato till it turns soft and mushy.
3) Add 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp salt, coriander powder and garam masala and saute further.
4) Now add 3/4 cup washed moong-dal and mix well, making sure everything is combined well.
5)Add 5 cups of water cover the lid and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 9 min
10) Open and check the dal. Dnotot smash.
11)Now prepare the tadka and pour the tempering over dal along with 2 tbsp coriander leaves and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Finally, mix the moong-dal tadka and serve with hot rice/roti.
