I find Birds the most fascinating creatures and especially passerine birds are a sheer delight to the mind and soul. The Green Bee Eater is pleasure sight particularly in the morning hours between 7 to 8 AM. The way, this species has adapted to urban habitat is flawless. I spotted this solitary Bee Eater perched atop a cable wire and voila, what a sight , displaying varied stance and the classic nasal trill made an endearing sight. Enjoy the Poem, which is an imaginary conversation between a Bee & The Bee Eater.
Heard your nasal call, Tree-tree-tree-tree
Where I dwell with an army and a Queen
Once you tried to eat me up
Oh, I know, I must be tastier than the wasp and ant
I was enjoying the sunflower
Unlike you, who is dust-bathing
I caught a glimpse of you in the passerine
Looking forlorn
Why don’t you feed on ants?
Is it the luminous glow I possess
That caught your crimson eye
Why don’t you feed on the lustrous beetles
And give them a good thrashing
My mornings are gratified
While yours sluggish
Watch me sometimes – catch the glint
Settle in my comb and radiate amber
I’m glad you spared me
And happily settled on the roost tree
