A few years ago, I shot this majestic congregation of Pink Flamingos at Seawood Creek. It was early winter morning and Sun was just setting in, I couldn’t ignore the line formation which resembled a kind of tactical phalanx formation resembling early warfare, and boy, what a sight to behold it was, the gargantuan army of Pink Flamingos sharing space aside Gulls who were clamouring for morsels, was simply stellar. The Poem – Song of a Flamingo is a resultof this sighting. It is one of my top-rated and five star poem and published in my book – Culturekurry
Fusing with the sunlight and the sky is a blush
Flying across continents a great multitude
The atmosphere turned crimson and gave a large hue
Settle down in the creek and the sturdy mangroves
Feeding on the algae and shrimp
Being burly on leg and lyric in the cacophony
Dance in a formation unmindful of the other species
The sea is gleaming with tints of ruddy
Often gulls come by and enjoy the company
Small flights in the creek are enjoyable and frequent for a treat
Hatchlings of the newborn are seen in creches
Learning the tricks and the tranches
Mornings and early evenings are a charm to watch
Gathering of thousands along the coastline
An intense bond in every pair is what we display
A nest in a mudflat is a beautiful cosy stay
The nasal honking creates an orchestral
Eternal show of a lifetime
It’s for a limited time we shall stay by
After all, it’s the migratory bird’s fly-by
