It has been quite some time since I last shared an update with my subscribers about my thrilling bike rides. Lately, my adventures have often intertwined with delightful food, evocative poetry, and creative recipes. Let’s dive into last Sunday’s exhilarating ride to Uran-Karanja Jetty, where we embraced the excitement of off-roading on my new KTM Adventure.
Our journey began at the break of dawn, precisely at 7 a.m., from our familiar flag-off point at the NMMC headquarters on Palm Beach Road. The morning air was refreshingly pleasant, setting the perfect mood for our adventure. As we cascaded through the winding roads in a single-file formation, I could feel the thrill coursing through my veins. The slick roads, glistening under the soft morning light, elevated our experience, making it one of the most enjoyable rides I’ve had en route to Uran Naka. The journey typically takes just about half an hour when cruising at a steady pace of 55 to 60 km/h, whether on a bike or in a car.
As we approached Uran Naka, the road leading to the jetty presented a handful of rough patches, but this roughness added character to the ride, lasting only a fleeting five minutes. A mere 300 meters before reaching the jetty, we spotted a narrow road branching uphill to our right, beckoning us for some off-roading excitement. There, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, we indulged in the thrill of navigating rugged terrain. Nearby, a tranquil pond provided a picturesque backdrop for capturing unforgettable moments.
After about 25 minutes of off-roading, filled with laughter and cheerful camaraderie, we headed for breakfast at the renowned Varhadi Misal. The menu boasted local favorites like Keema Pao and Misal Pao, accompanied by delectable homemade rice papads that truly elevated our meal. I highly recommend their Jaggery Tea, served generously throughout the day—a sweet touch that perfectly complements the savory dishes.
After fueling our bodies, a few of us decided to explore the adjacent fish market, where the vibrant atmosphere buzzed with life. Here, we picked up fresh seafood at unbeatable prices, significantly lower than neighboring shops. By 9 a.m., with satisfied bellies and happy hearts, we were ready to journey back home.
